Thank you for your generous donation

We thank you for standing with us in helping spread the good news of the Kingdom.

2 Corinthians 9:6-15
New International Version (NIV)
Generosity Encouraged

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written:

“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
their righteousness endures forever.”[a]
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

The Power of Your Attitude

The Power of Your Attitude

In yesterday’s sermon I spoke of the power of attitude.  Here’s an important addition to the discussion. It is in your power to choose your attitude.  Many people think that their circumstances dictate their attitudes, but this is not true.  You are a creature with amazing God-given power to choose your thoughts, attitudes, and even emotions.  Yes, thoughts, attitudes and emotions will come and go, but to simply give in to whatever emotions and attitudes that present themselves is the default position.  You can take  hold of your...

How To Help Destroy Your Church (and Your Spiritual Life) in 6 Easy Steps

Sometimes I hear people say, “Our church is under attack; we need to pray.”  Well, here’s two obvious observations about that.   First, most every church – if they are doing the work of the Kingdom at all – is under attack all the time, not just some of the time.  We are, after all, engaged in a titanic conflict that has been waged since the Garden.  The entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation speaks of a spiritual war that is being fought in the unseen, and we are right in the middle of it.  The very fact that a church is founded in the...

Pop Culture and the Bible

The popular culture in America is becoming increasingly humanistic.  The formal definition of humanism is, “An outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters.” Humanism, then, has its own set of philosophical doctrines, most of which are in direct opposition to the teachings and doctrines of the Holy Bible.  Listed below are a few philosophies of humanism that are increasingly being readily accepted as fact in our culture, but that one cannot embrace if you are a Bible-believing...

War of the Worldviews

War of the Worldviews

Author: Andy Robbins In 2005 Stephen Spielberg released his remake of the H.G. Wells story, War of the Worlds. This story, of course, is fictional. But the continuing saga of the war of the worldviews is not fiction. As Christians, we face daily pressure to adopt worldviews that are in stark contrast to how our Savior would have us think. How should we view difficult social issues such as euthanasia, homosexuality, abortion, capital punishment, evolution, how to vote, and the claim that all paths lead to God? If we are dedicated followers of...

War of the Worldviews, part 2: Do All Paths Lead to God?

War of the Worldviews, part 2: Do All Paths Lead to God?

Author: Andy Robbins Unitarianism has become popular in today’s post-modern culture. It is surprising how many people believe that as long as you are sincere, you can believe whatever you choose to believe and still be justified in the end. More surprising still is the number of churchgoers who believe that the spiritual path they have chosen is simply one of the many paths that lead to God. But is that true? Can two groups of people believe in totally different ideals and both still somehow be right? Is sincerity a marker for truth? People...

War of the Worldviews, part 3: Did Jesus Rise from the Dead?

War of the Worldviews, part 3: Did Jesus Rise from the Dead?

Author: Andy Robbins In continuing with our current theme of whether or not Jesus Christ’s claims of being God and the only way to salvation can be validated, we have to consider whether or not He truly rose from the dead. Since Jesus predicted that He would rise from the dead, His whole life and ministry would prove to be a fraud if He was not able to then do so. In a short post like this I cannot fully explore the mammoth amount of evidence for the resurrection of Jesus. But one thing I can tell you is that the task of analyzing that...

The High Road

Author: Andy Robbins In 1976, a struggling screen writer hit it big with his script of “Rocky.” Sylvester Stallone created a character partly from a real person and partly from fiction that has been loved by moviegoers for more than 30 years. The story of Rocky parallels our spiritual lives in some compelling ways. As the story opens, Rocky Balboa, a 30-year-old small time boxer who couldn’t be called a has-been because he was more like a never-was, is trading punches in a dank, smoky club in downtown Philadelphia. Energized by an illegal...

Throwing Off Every Weight

Author: Andy Robbins Have you ever had the chance to examine an Indy car? One thing that becomes immediately obvious is that there are no amenities on a race car. No cup holders, no air conditioners, no stereo systems, no glove box, and no GPS systems. Those cars are stripped down to only what is required for optimum speed. And, boy, do they ever go fast! Now, apply that principle of aerodynamics to our spiritual lives. The book of Hebrews addresses it. “…Since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us...

My Response to ‘Religulous,’ Part 1

Author: Andy Robbins Bill Maher is the host of a new documentary movie called, Religulous, which marries the word religious with ridiculous in an all-out full frontal attack on the beliefs and values of those who hold any religious convictions. You can view the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nahmIajIzfA and a YouTube response to the film here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImcOSa4frKA Maher pretty much lumps all religious groups into the same category, portraying Christians, Jews, and Muslims alike as brainless weirdos who have...

“Christians are Intellectual Weaklings”: Response to ‘Religulous’ part 2

Author: Andy Robbins The new movie, Religulous, dramatizes what its creator, Bill Maher, has been saying for years, that religious people are intellectually underdeveloped. In many respects it is understandable how Maher comes to this conclusion, because many people who consider themselves spiritual or religious, including New Agers, do not really know why they believe what they believe, except that it just feels right to them. However, that is not true of Christians who have truly investigated the claims of Jesus Christ and the veracity of...
