Thank you for your generous donation
We thank you for standing with us in helping spread the good news of the Kingdom.
2 Corinthians 9:6-15
New International Version (NIV)
Generosity Encouraged
6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written:
“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
their righteousness endures forever.”[a]
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

Author: Andy Robbins What is “faith?” Is it simply a religious affiliation? Is it adherence to a set of dogmas? It might seem that this is all faith means in our present spiritual environment. The classic definition of faith is found in Hebrews 11:1. “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Literally, faith is a belief in something that is not perceived by the five senses. Perhaps one of the best contrasting examples of faith is found in Numbers 14 where the faith of two important Old Testament figures,...

Author: Andy Robbins I am reading through the book of Proverbs again, and today a short little phrase jumped out at me that is right in line with what we have been talking about lately in church regarding generosity. The phrase is found in the last part of Proverbs 21:26: “The righteous give without sparing.” It is sad but true that some of the stingiest people I know are Christians, but it’s not supposed to be that way. As we discussed yesterday, Christians are supposed to EXCEL in the grace of giving. And I have also found that many...

Author: Andy Robbins Last year I was in a little Kentucky town and bumped into a young Asian girl who approached me with a leaflet in her hand. I thought she was soliciting, and in fact she was selling something, but it wasn’t merchandise. What she was selling was Jesus. I discovered while listening to her broken English that she was a missionary. That’s right. She had come from a distant land half way across the globe to evangelize Americans in the heartland. I think that speaks volumes about how far we have fallen in this nation...

Author: Andy Robbins I often marvel at the continued lowering standards of people’s vocabularies. Even in the church, there seems to be very little conviction about what comes out of one’s mouth. I know people who I perceive really love God, but they can cuss a blue streak and don’t seem to have any discomfort with using the same vile language as the rest of the world. This is not an issue of simply being “old fashioned,” “out of touch,” or overly sensitive. The Bible does address this issue in no uncertain terms. Do not let any unwholesome...

Author: Andy Robbins This past Sunday my older brother, Gary, visited Blessed Life Fellowship. Gary is 55, and has lived most of his life avoiding church and disliking most of what he has seen from Christianity American-style. His impression of Christianity all his life has been that God was a tight-fisted tyrant who only wanted to judge him and condemn him for his sins. And Gary ran from that god, as anyone would. Recently I had the opportunity to speak with Gary at length about what God is really like, that God wants to bless him and give...

Author: Andy Robbins As we approach the beginning of a New Year, I think it’s a good time to evaluate how we have been doing individually and seek the Lord’s direction for the coming year. One thing that I believe God has been speaking to me lately – both for me and our church – is the importance of seeking God passionately, desperately, and hungrily, more so now than ever before. Psalm 37:4 provides an incredible promise along these lines. “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Really? He’ll give...

Author: Andy Robbins Recently a 60-Minutes broadcast shed light on the looming economic meltdown not only of the Federal Government, but also of State and local governments. The debt problem of our government has gotten so big that there is virtually no way, they say, to avoid an economic holocaust, leaving many cities and communities impoverished. Click here to read the story and see a clip of the 60-Minutes broadcast. What does this mean for faith people believing God for financial abundance? For starters, it means getting up off of our...

Author: Andy Robbins This past Sunday we discussed the blessings of acquiring and walking in wisdom. I want to elaborate on a few points in today’s post. Firstly, recall that one very overlooked way to acquire wisdom to is to seek wise counsel and listen to constructive criticism and advice. This is probably the most overlooked of the wisdom principles because no one likes to be told that they are blowing it in an area. That is affront to our self-esteem and our precious pride. But if you want to grow in wisdom, being open to constructive...

Author: Andy Robbins Sometimes a discussion on associations can be a sticky one. The book of Proverbs instructs, “Those who walk with the wise become wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.” How, then, do we effect people’s lives not yet in the faith without interacting with them? Wasn’t Jesus “a companion of prostitues and sinners?” Good questions. The answer is that Jesus made a habit of hanging out with people who KNEW they were in spiritual trouble, and who sought his forgiveness and restoration. He didn’t turn anyone away...
