Thank you for your generous donation
We thank you for standing with us in helping spread the good news of the Kingdom.
2 Corinthians 9:6-15
New International Version (NIV)
Generosity Encouraged
6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written:
“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
their righteousness endures forever.”[a]
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

Author: Andy Robbins Bill Maher of the new movie, Religulous, has pointed to religion as a source of wars and atrocities. I believe he is partially correct. Certain religions have been a source of wars and atrocities. The Jihad (holy war) carried out by Muslims is a great example. The Qur’an (Koran) encourages the slaying of one’s enemies — anyone who does not follow Islam. Jesus Christ, however, taught to love one’s enemies, to do good to even those who mistreat you, to offer the other cheek to someone who slaps you, and to bless those who...

Author: Andy Robbins Josh McDowell (pictured) never intended to be a defender of the Christian faith. In fact, his goal was just the opposite. As a young man Josh considered himself an agnostic, and viewed Christianity as worthless and Christians as out of touch. But while attending Kellogg College in Michigan, he was challenged by a group of Christian students to intellectually examine the claims of Christianity. He accepted that challenge and set out to prove that Christ’s claims to be God and the historical reliability of Scripture could...

Author: Andy Robbins In continuing with our discussion on rebutting Bill Maher’s assertions on Christianity and religion in general, let’s take a look at just a few issues pertaining to the veracity of scripture. The Bible claims to be the only inspired Word of God. But so do many other religious writings. From the Book of Mormon to the Koran, pretty much all religious writings claim to be divinely inspired. So what makes the Bible unique? One of the most compelling evidences of the Bible’s divine origin is the fact that it contains hundreds...

Author: Andy Robbins It has been said that a person with an experience is not subject to a person with a good argument. In other words, you might have a very convincing-sounding argument that strawberries are a healthy food and should be included in the diet, for example, but that argument means very little to a person who goes into anaphylactic shock every time he or she even tastes a strawberry. . Similarly, I am a Christian not only because it makes intellectual sense to me, but moreover because I have had experiences that are beyond...

Author: Andy Robbins In the teaching this past Sunday we focused on principles of parenting, focusing on helping your children to develop and embrace a Biblical worldview. If you missed it, ask me for the notes and audio. In this post, I would like to add to those thoughts by addressing both parents with children still underfoot, and also empty nesters. First, one word of wisdom to parents of children still living in the house. Just as I said to never, ever, ever let a child get away with disrespectful behavior toward you or other elders, I...

Author: Andy Robbins We have probably all been there at one time or another in our spiritual lives. Perhaps it is a nagging sense of disconnection with the Spirit of God, sort of like a one-sided conversation. Maybe it’s a stagnation in one’s spiritual development and/or one or more sin habits that won’t let go. Maybe it’s a frustrating boredom with Bible study and/or a sense of dryness in prayer. Perhaps there is no enthusiasm for spiritual things, and God seems to be a little part of your life, but not the passion of it. Once in a while...

Author: Andy Robbins Do me a favor. If you have a Bible handy, grab it and read the entire chapter of Psalm 112. It’s short. If you like, copy and paste this post to a Word document and print it off and take it somewhere with your Bible where you can meditate on it. I think this is going to excite you. Please read that chapter before you read anymore of this post. Are you done? Okay, let’s break this down verse by verse. Verse 1 opens up the chapter by expressing praise to God. Why? Well, God deserves praise for many reasons, but the second...

Author: Andy Robbins My last two posts have been focused on God’s provisions for His people – spiritual AND monetary. I know that this brings up some questions regarding whether or not money is the root of all evil, as some have suggested. So let’s proceed to topple a sacred cow! First, let it be known that money in itself is not evil. Scripture says that the LOVE of money – being subservient to it and hoarding it and lusting for more of it – is the root of all sorts of evil (1 Timothy 6:10). But money in itself is not evil. In fact, money in...

Author: Andy Robbins A young missionary couple sat in my living room last year, sharing with my family and me the details of the gospel work they are doing in a village in Mexico. They felt commissioned by God in their teenage years to go to the mission field. Now only in their early twenties, they had given up the prospects of financial security and the comforts of living in a place like the United States for a 500-square-foot room with no bed and no running water – a room that they occasionally shared with scorpions and bats. Yet, to them...

Author: Andy Robbins After my last few posts, I had intended to go in a totally different direction with this and subsequent posts. However, something tells me we are not quite done hashing out this issue on the Biblical principles of abundance. Perhaps some of you may be wishing that I would go in a different direction, but as Laurie and Sherry said, it’s my blog and I can do what I want. So there. Now, to the issue at hand. If you are a critical thinker, and I hope you are, because that’s what this blog is devoted to, you might be asking...
